Lakeridge Chess Club Expectations
Chess Club Responsibilities
Provide a safe environment where students can learn to play chess.
Be available to answer questions that students or parents may have.
Support each student at his or her own level of chess play.
The Chess Club is only possible because of committed parent volunteers. The club is not responsible for handling children who are frequently disruptive.
Student Responsibilities
Respect each other.
Respect school property.
Listen to coaches and staff.
Come to chess ready to be challenged .
Have fun!
Parent Responsibilities
Meet the volunteer requirement of 2 sessions per year or arrange a switch with another parent volunteer within your group. Parents that cannot attend any chess club sessions can make arrangements with the volunteer coordinator to take on another job (e.g. assist at the Lakeridge Tournament, send reminder emails, equipment orders).
Provide a NUT FREE snack for students attending club.
Have someone available on the emergency contact numbers during club hours in case a student who is expected to attend fails to check in.
Pick up students on time or be willing to pay a late fee.
Always sign students out
Notify your team manager by 2PM if your child will be absent from chess club that day. This is true even if your child has been absent from school - we do not automatically have access to school records.
If a behavioral problem persists, the parent(s) are responsible for handling this by either attending Chess Club meetings with the child or removing the child from Chess Club.
